Set Pics of Something Going Boom

"hatchetgirl" has posted some pics of Transformer sets in Los Angeles on flickr. Based on the leak script this is part of the ending of the film but exactly what is going on is up in the air. Still worth a look see for the curious. Might even want to call this a spoiler warning except don't know what it might be spoiling.

Transformers Set Visit Reports

Apparently at some point this weekend, the Transformers producers allowed various fans from various websites to do on-set visit for Transformers in downtown Los Angeles. Of course the usual media folks where allowed on site to. The numbers and whatnot are unknown but here are the ones I have come across so far and will add more here as find them. Mostly I will just add the bits that are at least new information to me.

Set Reports
Latino Review
IESB.net
Sci Fi.com Wire
IGN.com
The Movie Blog

Information revealed
- Robot heights:
Jazz : 13 feet tall
Bumblebee: 17 feet tall
Ratchet: 24 feet tall
Iron Hide: 26 feet tall
Optimus Prime: 28 feet tall
Megatron: 34 feet tall
- Full trailer expected for the holiday season with the plan having at least some Optimus Prime voice work, robot action, traditional transforming noise and "More Then Meets The Eye" theme.
- Jazz vehicle form is a silver Pontiac Solstice
- Ironhide's alt form is a black GMC 4x4
- Ratchet is a Humvee
- Film will have a little background in the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. From what I read it just explains why they came to Earth when explaining the situation to Sam Witwicky.
- An attempt is being made to do on location shooting at the Pentagon, first time allowed since 9/11
- A military unit called Sector 7 is the task force assigned to track down and investigate the alien invaders.
- Voice casting is still wide open, nothing definite but Frank Welker as Megatron is still an option.
- If you are a fan of the Furby, you will experience sadness during one scene where a truck of them catches on fire as the "Energon Cube" grants them life, and if you don't like them, much joy.
- Hasbro has final say on all character designs (thus explaining why the COO keeps commenting on leaked designs).
- Apparently Don Murphy was going to do GI Joe but the Iraqi invasion scrapped the idea so Hasbro suggested the Transformers.
- The hope is to have Soundwave show up in a sequel.

Access Hollywood Transformers Clip

AccessHollywood.com has a about a 1 and a half minute video clip online that shows a brief interview with Michael Bay. Its provided a brief explanation of what the Transformers are, shows a little filming of an attack sequence involving Shia LaBeouf, vehicle mode Bumblebee, and a construction arm. Its also has a mostly covered up, hard to tell animatic of a Transformer. I can't tell what it shows but then that's probably why it was okayed to a brief display of it.

The clip is here.

AICN also reports about the clip and extracted just the animatic sequence from the piece at a larger size which you can find here.

More On Set Pics

LatinoReview.com has posted some more onset pics. The 5 pic involved a railroad crossing, construction crane (part of a TF perhaps?) and a chase with 3 SUVs. The pics really don't reveal much beyond that.

Click here for the write up and here for the pics.

In other news, a post on transformers official board describes the next TF trailer. Not bothering to reproduce here since its probably BS. One, cause the first teaser just came out. Two, because its too early to create a second trailer. The best time to release another would be the mid-November to Christmas period when event movies such as the next James Bond is getting released. Finally, because the shooting isn't done, I seriously doubt any CGI effects shot are even close to a final rendering phase needed for a trailer. For the curious, the post is here.

Air Force's Transformers Behind the Scenes Video

Click here for a video from the Air Force over at Holloman Air Force Base about "the level of military cooperation on this film is unprecedented." Its shows a little behind the scenes action, Michael Bay doing a brief onscreen interview and a scene of pyrotechnics that was being filmed. Actually one of the best "behind the scenes" films released yet.

Thanks B. Pretzel for the link.

Another On Set Report

Seibertron.com has posted a report from "Christian" while auditioning for Transformers. Has some set pics too, most of them of the best up bumblebee and a town set pic. The report was put at last week but just stumbled across it.

Hey guys! A few interesting details...
Unfortunately I didn't get cast as an extra, but my girlfriend did! She went down to the stages for a wardrobe fitting today and found out that filming begins on Wednesday, the 5th, on the Universal Studios backlot. They are going to be filming the high school scenes the week of July tenth at a high school in Pasadena. The other day on the way to work we saw Bumblebee on a flatbed trailer headed towards the construction stages! The truck had "Cinema Services Motion Picture Car Transport" on the side and BumbleBee was sandwiched between a couple of SUV's on the flatbed. They all had fake license plates and BumbleBee had some "battle damage" painted on. I have a few pictures from my cell phone- not amazing but you get the idea at least. We went down to Universal Studios today and took the tram tour to try to get a glimpse of the sets being built. Couldn't see much, but we did see one building dressed like a museum (I think) that had huge banners on it displaying an exhibit called "Giants of the Machine Age- 1918 to 1941" (got a cell phone pic of that too). Maybe Spike's class goes on a field trip to the museum...? We also saw a wall being built with holes blown out of it, a couple of tanks and a fleet of police vehicles.

AICN's Onset Report on Skorponok Sequence

Ain't It Cool News has posted a pretty detailed description of the shooting of the Skorponok that is mean to open up the Transformers film. For a reminder, in a leaked version of the script, apparently a Transformers attacks a US military base via the ground to get hold of data from US computers. Lots of fighting and explosions ensue as the army and our gaggle of heroes fight of this metallic and unknown invader. Really no spoilers are revealed but its an interesting read.

Hoover Dam Shoot pics

Superherohype.com has posted some pics from the Hoover Dam shoot for the movie. Nothing really to them, just some of the cast members in costume. Looks like they are mostly just hanging between setups so nothing of note is in the pictures.

As far as what is being filmed, apparently its a sequence involving the capture of Bumblebee in a hidden military base at the Dam called Sector 7 that apparently involves most of the cast as Shia, Voight and several others are seen on set. Apparently to help with the filming, a 25 foot tall robot mode Bumblebee was built. He is the only one as the rest are going to be CGI. I bet that would be pretty sweet to see and get pics of.
